Is that the one that uses an iPod or has the music files on a compact flash card? How does the cdadapter compare with the wb2mp3?  If it’s the iPod one do you run the audio through a separate amp before going to the speakers?

I have sent Fabien an email of an attachment PDF that my mate sent to me, it is concerning the humming noise, his thoughts findings and photos of oscilloscope readings, I have  not had a response as yet hopefully he will be in touch with us both soon.

    Hi Klaatu

I will take a look at the mouser web site did you have to fabricate your own mounting brackets?

I am currently doing another sprayed one for a friend initially it was going to be lady Penelope Pink but she later changed her mind and now wants it Red like in the picture. Luckily the case is still at the metal polishers.

Would be fantastic if Fabien comes up with a cure for the humming noise before I have this one finished, hopefully by the end of March.  I also have a friend of mine who is an electronics engineer taking a look at a wb2mp3 card to see if he can work out a way of eradicating the hum.

Yes you a right it is quicker to remove the switch unit, convert it & clean all the contacts than it is to type out a description of how to do it. Especially if you type like me rather steadily. I have also  done one SCH machine these differ slightly because the speaker  wires go through the credit unit & have no speaker relay. They have a 15 pin connector for the credit unit plug apposed to the normal 12.   Again the credit unit had been removed to make space for an LED control unit and remote sensor. I think they routed the speaker wiring like this  to stop people listening to selections made by other people. Will have to take the cover off of it and take a look how I wired it, the mod on the resistor board is the same.

    Hi

I have not had any experience with Rockola 507 or 506 , but I am guessing that free play could be achieved in one of two ways  firstly  you could fit a momentary switch that replicates a coin being inserted this would register a credit so would put the wiper arm of the contact disc into a credit position, this button would have to be pressed before each selection, or  secondly if credit is registered on the credit unit  & if the credit unit was then doctored so that it could not remove the credit as the selection is made,   it would stay in credit giving free plays.

Not sure how much help it would be but there is a wiring diagram for the 507 in the Support section  at the top of the page.

    Cheers

If you have not sorted the problem yet it may be worth checking the gaps of the contacts  on the latch bar setting switch,  its below the contact disc, it  should have a protective plate covering it, the plate is sometimes missing so the contacts get damaged/ bent.

    Bonsoir Klaatu
Avez-vous déjà reçu la carte wb2mp3 modifiée?
Si vous avez reçu la carte modifiée avez-vous eu la chance de l’essayer?
Pourriez-vous me laisser savoir comment il effectue une fois que vous l’avez essayé.

    Cordialement

    Good morning Fabien

you suggest that I send back one of my cards for you to write a special program for it ?

i have tried several cards & multiple SD cards and the results are always the same.

The card behaves in exactly the same way when connected to either the 5250 or the 5210.

My 5210 works correctly when connected to the 2100 so I am sure both of the wallbox’s are working correctly.

As the card works correctly with an SD configured for A Rockola 1555 giving all 200 selections & starting at A1 This would make me think that the problem is in the software itself ?

The powder coated one is now long gone, away on its holidays,  it now lives in deepest darkest North Devon. We had friends come up for the week & ended up taking it home with them. So I have done another for our  kitchen,  again the chrome was poor so I had the casings stripped and then sprayed red by a local car body shop. Since then I picked up one with much better chrome which I stripped down & gave a thorough going over (clean everything,  lube /adjust)  & then converted it. This one  is now mostly in the garage but came  outside last summer when the weather was good enough to sit out.

Hi Fabien I have emailed you my postal address.

If this modifiction cures the hum on the left speaker is it possible for me to carry out the modifications  to the other cards I have ?

    Hi Fabien

I guess this testing of the cards has been introduced since the problem with the optocoupler?

This  sounds like very good news if this modification stops the hum.

is this mod something that I can do to other cards I have?

currently I have one in the kitchen one in my study and one in my garage plus one at my parents plus  three that I have done for friends.

Is there any news on the cancell button cancelling all selections ?

did you read my post about 200 select wurlitzers?

    kind Regards

    Hi

I had a similar problem with a Seeburg sc1 where I only had 20 selections, the number buttons made no difference, my sc1 had arrived with no credit unit.

After studying the wiring diagram, I found that on the sc1 the number selections go through a set of contacts in the credit unit as mine was missing the circuit was incomplete putting a jumper wire in the credit unit multi socket completed the circuit and re astablished the number selections.

Dont know if a 3wa is wired in a similar way?

is there a plug on your credit unit? Some do & some are hard wired.

may be worth cleaning any contacts on the credit unit if you have one?

    Cheers Scudie

    Bonjour Fabien

Forgot to ask in the last post if you had identified anything with my question of the reject button cancelling all selections?  I tried yesterday disconnecting the remote cancell switch I had fitted, and with the cover off pressed the cancel button on the board /card, this made no difference it still cancelled all selections.

    Kind Regards Scudie

    Good morning Fabien

As my French is inadequate to read all of the above post I had to use google to translate it into English.

I do agree with Klaatu that the hum does appear to come from the left speaker.

In the last paragraph the translation says that all the cards are tested befor being dispatched?

    Kind regards Scudie

    Hi Fabien

Yes when I connected  my 5250 to a wb2mp3 with an sd card written for the 5250 there was nothing played when any of  T , U. ,V selections were selected. I identified that when A1 was pressed it actually played D1 so was missing the first 30 selections,  this carried on all through the selections where S0 played track V0.

I had all ready stripped and cleaned every contact on the letter & number buttons, also the wiper arm contact and board.

I then swapped the 5250 for my 5210 that works perfectly with my W 2100, the wb2mp3 behaved the same with the 5210.

So I tried a new sd card this had no affect, formatted the card and wrote it for a 5210, still no difference.

I did the the same with an sd configured for a 5220, this made no difference.

So I then started going through the software and did a sd card for all of the 200 select wallbox’s that are listed, Seeburg AMI and Rockola.

I found with an sd card Configured for a 200 select Rockola 1555  I had all 200 selections with both the 5210 & 5250 but the 5250 selection order was wrong so I converted the title pages to the same as the 5210.

This caused me a lot of wasted time and lots of headaches!

    Kind Regards

    Scudie

This is the same wallbox after a trip to the sand blasters /powder coaters. If anyone is thinking of sand blasting / powder coating Don’t . In my oppinion it’s safer and achieves a better finish to have the case polished at a metal polishing company to remove the chrome, sand blasting does not remove the chrome. Then have it sprayed the colour of you choice, try to avoid having it baked in an oven it can & will deform the casing.

Pits not quite finished in the photo, still had some minor parts to refit.

The first photo is of a un modified volume switch the second one shows the ten ohm resistors separated and with the new wire connected (brown)
