Hi Klaatu
I think that the photo makes the led’s look brighter than they really are, just look at the ones on the emulator, the ones in the photo are the cool white colour, I have not tried them with a cover on yet to check what they look like, if they are too bright I will fit some higher rated resistors. These have been on now for weeks & weeks.

ScudieParticipantHello Gerard
Good to hear that you are all sorted and have your project up and running now.
Any photos of them?
ScudieParticipantI also use the the chassis as a ground for 5v dc for LED in the illumination of the pages.
ScudieParticipantI use 3 core 1.5 mm2 round flex, with a 3amp fuse in the three pin plug and the earth wire connected to the wallbox chassis.
I fit an automotive 3amp blade fuse on the output of the transformer.
Cheers Scudie
ScudieParticipantI was thinking of mounting the new remote amp separate to the emulator, with an hole in the backplate so if desired the volume could be adjusted using a small screwdriver without having to remove the cover.
Cheers Scudie.
ScudieParticipantOk so the Buzzing on the left speaker is GONE!!!
I have found time this week to have a go at the amp and emulator.
After removing the speaker / audio connector block as advised by Sooner, I cut the traces that lead from under the audio connector block to four of the connections of the on board amp, according to Klaatu’s post of the amp they are 1-3 & 14-16.
I ordered some of the PAM 8403 amps back in September of last year, but have since been busy with other projects. Finally this week I found the time and parts to have a go at replacing the onboard amp with one of the new ones.
Got it wired up this afternoon, the good news is that if there is any buzzing at all it is so very slight that I can’t audibly detect it through the left speaker now, it is a total transformation to how it was beforehand.
I may be being over critical as I am paying particular attention to the sound, trying very hard to listen for anything that should not be there.
As you can see in the photo it’s only a trial at the moment connected to the SC1 that I fitted the LED’s to, that are still going strong.
Have been sat listening to it now for an hour or more now and I believe all selections so far have been buzz free. I am convinced that it’s cured it. Very Happy & well worth the effort! Thanks to Sooner & Klaatu for the information in previous posts.Cheers Scudie

ScudieParticipantI believe in theory that you should be able to make all of your 16 selections and it should play them in the order that they were selected including any repeat selections of the same track.
However theory is not always what happens in reality! I have found that they tend to get a bit hit and miss when more than three or four selections a made, mine will sometimes play six selections with no problems & sometimes miss one when three have been selected.

ScudieParticipantForgot to ad this to previous post,
Or for that matter the 25vac, as Steve pointed out.

ScudieParticipantIt does sound like you may have a defective unit, as Steve said there has been problems with them I had a couple with the optocoupler fitted incorrectly, they swapped them fairly promptly.
Although it’s something I have never done, I guess if you are running the unit only in random play mode it would not matter about the optocoupler.
Let us know how you get on.
Paul
ScudieParticipantHi Gerard
Yes I think it will require the 25vac connection, the signal is a pulsed ground if the sd is configured for random selection I would think there should be no requirement for a signal.
Paul
ScudieParticipantHi Gerard
I am guessing that if it worked as you expected before you fitted it to the wallbox, it has to be that something has changed since fitting it?
Why is it not possible to make a selection with the 2nd wallbox ?
If you have two SD cards that are configured the same you could try swapping them. Cheers Scudie
ScudieParticipantGood morning Sooner
Yes I have the amps, and a board hopefully will get time to have a go at giving it a try this year!
Cheers Scudie
ScudieParticipantEvening MrMiller
If I remember correctly both Sooner and Klaatu have commented that by adjusting the two volume controls that they have been able to alter the sound quality.
As far as I was aware both the onboard volume pot & the remote one are both just volume controls and the board is switched between the two by moving the position of the onboard switch.
The fact that the remote pot should fade your left /right speakers is weird & not something I have experienced.
I do know that Sooner had a couple of wb2mp3 emulators with failed amps & that he was able to effect a repair by adding a separate amp to the audio side of the board.
Maybe one of them might have something to add to this.

ScudieParticipantHi MrMiller
Thanks for the info I might just give it a go on the next SC I do, if I understand correctly you fit one strip in the plastic lid and also another strip lower down? On the reverse of the black plastic personalisation strip perhaps?
Yes a photo of the inside showing the layout would be useful when you get chance.
Cheers
Scudie
ScudieParticipantHello MrMiller
What great idea did you buy it as a kit? If so where from ?
I have fitted led strips to the inside of several SC1-4 machines but have not heard of these addressable ones before reading your post.
Mine are controlled by a small remote with the receiver behind a speaker grill.
How did you avoid having a cable to connect/ disconnect when removing or fitting the front cover?
Merry Christmas

ScudieParticipantHi Bobwiley
I had wondered if you had made any progress with your 3WA, I read that you had limited time to work on it.
Now that I have completed the WQ it will free up some space on my bench, to be able to get a 3WA powered up, I then may be able to be of more help.
I assume that yours still does not run a full cycle of the wiper arm when you have pressed both a number and letter?
Cheers Scudie
ScudieParticipantOk so a bit of an update on the WQ, after the previous post all the mech was refitted into the front cover & for a change everything still appeared to function correctly, so configured an sd specific for the WQ with selections paired as they would be when connected to a jukebox full of 45s.
Then set about getting the slug rejecter / coin accepter to work correctly with the pre decimal English coins, after a little bit of fiddling it started to accept shillings but not the sixpence’s which just ejected to the coin chute, the two shilling pieces did not eject at the coin chute but got wedged just before making contact with the coin switch’s. After more cleaning & a little adjustment the two shillings were working well, but still the sixpence’s would not work, I eventually bit the bullet and stripped the slug rejector to find a piece of newspaper that had been very carefully folded up, & that had been inserted to block the path of the coins, with this removed the unit now accepts sixpence’s 1 play, shillings 2plays and two shillings 5plays.
Idealy I would have preferred 1 , 3 , 7 for the corresponding coins but the max I can get is 5, any one have any sugestions?
So now with the title cards printed to match the newly configured Sd card & a bag of coins I set about making selections to see if it played correctly, at this point I realised that it did not always play the desired selection, on inspection of the wiper arm it was apparent the part of wiper arm contact had broken off ! with this repaired selections seem to be 99% correct.
Cheers Scudie
ScudieParticipantI sort of guessed you were using what you had to hand. If you are only having singles on the wallbox you get away with a 2gb card, I have done several Seeburg SC1’s with 160 selections including a couple of albums using 2gb cards.
Interested to hear how you get on.
Cheers Scudie
ScudieParticipantHi Bobwiley
Have just watched your video, the signal shorting switch should be open when the buttons are released & when latched Ie pressed in.
It should close as the button is pressed approximately 1/2 way in.
Are you sure that when you establish a credit that it is enough for a selection ?
Say for instance a nickel registers one credit but you need 2 credits to make a selection? A dime would automatically register 2 credits and a quarter 6 credits.
Cheers Scudie
ScudieParticipantHi Bobwiley
First it should not play any music until after the wiper arm has made a complete sweep of the contact board. When you configured the sd card did you tick any of the random play options? If you did I would format and configure again without random, in my experience it can make the system unstable.
I don’t think the gauge of wire will be the cause of your problems, I am currently using house telephone wire for a couple of wallbox’s that are at least a metre away from the Wb2mp3 unit.
Stripping the selection switches is quite an involved job I have done it and cleaned each part of the switches in a strong detergent with an old toothbrush & if they are badly tarnished given them a rub with sore Duraglit metal polish.
However I doubt that the selection switches are at the route of your problem, you could check there operation with a multimeter that has either ohms or a continuity function, I think I am correct in saying that,
with no selection buttons pressed
one probe connected to the chassis and the other on the first of the selection contacts (V) on the circular disc you should have continuity, work your way around the contacts through to A & then the numbers 1 through to ten, you should have continuity on them all.
If then V was selected with the button the V contact should have continuity but all the other letters should be open circuit ie no continuity.
If V is released by pressing say L contacts V through to & including L should have continuity to ground / chassis but K to A again should be open circuit.
Hope this helps
Scudie.
