OK – I have looked at the WIpod instructions and see it now.  What threw me off was the SC2 seeming to work with coins and no mods.

I’ll take another look at the SC1 – thanks for the info, that’s why this forum is so great.

I just do not like to modify the original operation of these boxes if I can avoid it.  Which is why
I prefer to retain the original slug rejector/coin mechs rather than removing them to accommodate  emulators and transformers and enabling with free-play options.

I understand issues with folks thinking they were helping machine operation in the past by applying grease and other heavy  lubricants to mechanisms that were engineered to run forever with strictly light lubes, home pinball owners were apparently not aware of this from some of my experiences.

    Thanks again Scudie

Hey Scudie, just the normal issues with the SC1 – no response from the coin switches when tripped.

I have removed the APU and wiper arm assembly for cleaning ( they were dirtier than any other box I have worked on for some reason). Also replaced the speakers.

Just have been slow on re-assembly as other projects have taken priority.

Your turntable/amp project sounds interesting, I have not yet had to deal with vacuum tubes although I have a W1-L56 wireless that I’ll get to eventually.  Not sure if I can pull the pulse from it to signal an emulator but I’d like to get it running properly anyway.

Hey, Scudie…yes all jukebox in the titles or lyrics.

Been having a little trouble lately posting to this forum, I have a youtube video that explains it, but have not been able to post.  Look for 3031 on youtube.

So I am working a SC, I have a 1 and 2 that are in various states of disassembly.

The SC1 is chrome that is in fairly good nick but is presenting some technical challenges.

The SC2 works correctly but is in bad cosmetic shape.

I considered powder coating or re-chroming but saw your post on the coating process and explored re-chroming here and it’s a little too expensive.  I had some pinball parts re-chromed and later regretted the cost.

So, I may do some cross-leveling of parts to get the SC1 working.

I’m going to do a Ipod adapter on this one – music management is so much easier for these 100+ songs than the MP3 adapters.

Hey Scudie, yes I’m working on an SC now, got the 5220 done (I posted some shots of it).  Think I will go with country music on the SC.

First though I’m trying one a little different, I’ll post it up soon.

Can’t really help you if you won’t communicate.  There is generally no easy solution if you have followed the Retroelonik instructions correctly, but you have not made that clear.  From your description I would guess that there is an incorrect voltage pulse from contact one to contact eight and 23 to 24. If you can provide those voltage readings, and they are correct then you may have a bad PCB and the folks at WB2MP3 will send you a new one as they have done for me in the past.  The easiest way to do that is to put your test leads at the signal and negative posts on the PCB and record the voltage at each selection, if they start at about .2 volts and progress at .2 to .3 volts at each selection and don’t provide the right song you may have a bad board.  I’ve done a couple of these and found the most probable point of failure is the coin micro-switch, it often does not provide enough contact to signal the right voltage reading to the PCB.  One solution might be to install a momentary switch to provide enough contact interval to let the voltage pulse to pass to the PCB .  Hope you get it worked out.

I can’t edit my first post but pictures of your wiring and switch mechanism would help there are a few different versions of this wallbox.

So you have measured the resistance at each selection and it changes .2-.3 volts progressively?

Also, the coin micro switch on these can be problematic, have you tried bypassing the switch?

Or testing the voltage output at the switch to ensure it also shows the progression of the .2-.3 volts for each selection.

You can try wiring in a momentary switch to replicate the signal from the coin switch, they can provide a more consistent contact to allow the proper voltage to pass.

When you say you used another wallbox – you have two and they produce exactly the same result?

Hey Scudie, well the Packard/Buckley function is a little different from three wire boxes.

These were originally 30 or so wire boxes and there is no motorized stepper.  They were 24 volt powered but with the Packard/Buckley emulator they can work with just the 5v adapter that comes with the emulator.

I was able to squeeze the emulator inside the box without removing anything. and get the 5v adapter inside the pole below the speaker junction box.

The emulator is signaled by the coin micro-switch so the coin acceptance system must function correctly for this version of the emulator.

The original light bulbs were  24 volt and must be replaced with 6v.  There were two originally, I added a third to the wallbox and two to the junction box.

Neat little unit but limited song selection of course.

So I cant find enough room to mount the PCB inside the box without removing something vital so it will have to remain external – just got to figure out a setup.

Well, it is working now, I replaced the signal wire with a new smaller gauge wire.  The WIPOD adapter has the signal and 24v wires embedded in the emulator so maybe that is why it worked when the WB2MP3 did not.

The RETROELECTRONIK folks sent me one of the first production V1.5 Packard/Buckley emulators and it sounds really good but I do not think it will fit inside the Buckley – I may try it.  I’ll post a video in the Facebook page soon.

    Thanks for your help

My mistake, I did not realize there is a software manual for V1.5 – it is explained in there.  I’m guessing a corrupt signal for the remaining problems as well, I will try some fixes for that.  I’m a little distracted right now as I just received a V1.5 emulator for my Buckley and I rather work on that.

    thanks again

Thanks Scudie, I went through the manual and did not find a reference to the M00.sel file.  Perhaps this was left out of the English version of the manual.  I did find the file on the SD card and adjusted it to M30.sel, this is much better I at least get a song with every selection now.  How ever selection A1 gets song sel002 and A9 gets sel001 and so on for the remaining letters.  Also seems that the further I go up the list the less accurate song selection becomes.  I sometimes have to cancel and select the same song many times before the correct song plays.  I will relook my wiring and reclean the WB but it performed correctly with the WIPOD emulater.
