I am having a problem with a recently received v1.5 unit which may or may not be specific to my particular unit or may be an issue with this version.

Currently I am only using the audio output from the unamplified mini jack on the v1.5. It appears that the volume output level from that jack is much lower than the typical line level output from, for example, an iPhone or other MP3 player.  This has resulted in my not being able to obtain reasonable wallbox2mp3 volume levels from any of my self-powered speakers, even at their max volume levels. More problematic, I am trying to use a Bluetooth transmitter/receiver from the wallbox2mp3’s line out but the level of output from the mini jack does not seem strong enough for a meaningful signal out of the Bluetooth receiver (into my Sonos system). The Bluetooth transmitter/receiver works fine when using other sources such as my iPhone output.

Is it possible that my unit is defective, or is this expected behavior?  Any input or suggestions would be appreciated.

      Good evening Pinbill

Are you using the onboard volume pot or the remote one ?

How are the  set the positions of the 3 switches on the board set ?

      Cheers Scudie

The dips were set as follows:

      1:  off, 2: on, 3: on

With these settings, the volume out of the jack was hardly audible and the volume pot made no changes.

HOWEVER, after reading your post I changed dip 3 to off and voila — I could hear audio out of the mini jack with the volume knob turned fully up!  Not very loud but definitely now audible with IEMs.

I don’t understand why picking one or the other audio amplifier type should make a difference in the unamplified output coming from the mini jack. Is this the expected behavior?  Or is there a defect in my particular unit?

      Hi Pinbill

To be honest I think that yesterday was the first time that I have used the mini jack audio on the V1.5

I have used A Bluetooth transmitter & speaker on V1.3 &V1.4 with out any issues, so yesterday I plugged the same transmitter into the V1.5 and paired it to my BT speaker when I powered the wallbox & V1.5 I got a loud humming /buzzing from the BT speaker that varied in volume when the on board volume pot was adjusted, when I selected a song it played fine with plenty of volume from the speaker, strangely when I connect a pair of earphones to the mini jack there is no buzzing/ humming.

My dips are set as follows

      1 off  2 on 3 off

      what is IEMs ?

So in conclusion it seems to me that we both have a problem albeit different ones.

      Cheers Scudie

      Hi Scudie,

That’s very interesting. I have been having intermittent Bluetooth hum issues when no music plays as well, but I haven’t spent enough time testing to isolate the issue.  Will do so and report back any findings.

As far as the volume issue is concerned, can you let me know whether you get audio output from the mini jack when dip 3 is set to “on”?  That was the configuration that was giving me a problem.

By the way, “iem” is in-ear monitor, a fancy term for high end earbuds!

Ok so I have just tested the V1.5  with switch 3 in the on position, so with my earphones plugged in I can hear the music but I think it’s not as loud as with dip 3 in off position, I also noticed another strange thing this afternoon my earphones have a volume control part way along the cable, when I adjust this earphone volume it also adjusts the volume from the speakers.

Also when I remove the earphone plug the speaker volume increases considerably.

      Cheers Scudie

      Hey Scudie,

Well, I went to test my v1.5 again today and now I get the no/exceedingly low (barely audible) output from the minijack irrespective of how any of the dips are set.  Previously toggling dip 3 to off triggered reasonable sound output from the mini jack, but now nothing.  Seems pretty clear that I have a defective unit.

The odd behavior of your speaker outputs, depending on the minijack connection, is pretty odd too — unfortunately I don’t have any non-powered speakers on hand to see if my unit exhibits similar behavior.

Seems like the v1.5 units may have some kinks that need to be worked out — or maybe we both just happen to have units with particular (though maybe different) problems.  Hopefully someone on the sales/manufacturing side can chime in on this?

      Good Morning Pinbill

From what I have read on your posts I would tend to agree with you about your V1.5 being at fault. I think you would be better off sending the team an Email rather than waiting for one of them to visit the forum and read these posts.

I think in previous instances where a unit appeared to be at fault, a replacement unit was sent out fairly promptly.

      Cheers Scudie

Yup, Gaelle and I have already been in contact and he is planning to send me a replacement.  Thanks for your help!
