I am working on converting a Seeburg DEC using the Dec2mp3 v 1.5. I have made all the connections as detailed in the manual, and I put one mp3 song on the root of the SD card. After inserting a coin and making a selection the red light on the board comes on for a second and then nothing else happens. I have one speaker wired to one of the speaker terminals on the board and there is no sound. I removed the configuration file as the software section said it wasn’t required. I have tried just about every wiring, configuration, and dip switch combination and nothing has worked. I only put one song on the SD card as a test. Any information is appreciated, thanks in advance.

Well, it was a little late in the evening before I noticed the post so no resolution tonight but I am sure we can get it figured out in the end.
First, why only one song and one speaker? I would suggest completing the installation by the instructions in the manual before starting to troubleshoot failures.I have a DEC with a V1.4 but from what I understand it is not significantly different in basic function to a V1.5 and I had no issues in installation.
On my example I turn the power on and have two red lights showing, one on the standard emulator and one on the DEC component – is the different from what you have?

Hello Matthigs
I agree with Randy, using the software configure your SD card for the correct DEC & add 160 MP3 files to it.
If you are intending on using the original DEC audio wiring & volume control I would check that the speaker negative circuits are independent of each other befor connecting to your V1.5 speaker terminals. The earlier models SC and SCH both used an audio system where the speaker negatives were common this had to be modified to make it compatible with the wallbox2mp3 system.

Thank you both for your responses. I do have both lights. I am restricted to doing the setup manually as I cannot get the software to open on my computer, I downloaded it and Java, but for some reason it will not open. This is one of the reasons I only have one song on currently. I wanted to make sure it was working before I added the rest. I guess I should add more songs and see if anything plays?

I would add at least 10 or so if you have to do it manually. Not sure why the software would not work to load them automatically, maybe some one else has solved that one.
Anyway on my SD set for coin use the SD File is:
c0s07.cnf
m00.sel (this one not needed for DEC)
names.csv (this one is just the program generated song titles)
sel001.mp3
seloo2.mp3
etc.
So your manual effort should look the same without the m00 and names files (no extra lines between selections).
As Scudie indicated there may be an issue trying to use the onboard speaker wiring system through the Soft and Loud buttons if you have done that. I just detached the system speaker wires and connected the speakers + and – to the WB2MP3 outputs, you can see the white speaker wires in the pic.
Finally, on my system after I insert a coin and select a song a smaller red led comes on near the speaker inputs. On mine it comes on, dims very slightly as the song starts and flickers even less slightly as the song continues.

Thanks Randy, I will redo my sd card. I have disconnected the speakers on the dec and hooked them directly to the board. I have a red light, but it only illuminates for a second after I make a selection and then it goes out.

I set up my SD card like this, but when I make a selection the light only comes on for one second and then goes out. Nothing plays.

Hmm, when I insert a SD formatted like you show I get the 2 flash loop on the error LED indicating the SD failed to initialize. It appears for the DEC you must have all 160 tracks loaded onto the SD.
You don’t get the error led flashing?

Nope, if I remove the SD it will give the two flash code. I noticed when I loaded a shorter song it looks like the light may blink once when I make the selection and then around the thirty seconds later would blink again around when the song would end. I’ll try loading all 160, if that doesn’t work I’m guessing there may be a problem with the audio section of the board, I’ve tried with headphones too and still nothing, it looks like the 1.5 may behave differently from yours with the led.

<p style=”text-align: left;”>I put 160 songs on the SD, and have no error codes, but there is still nothing playing. I am wondering if it is a bad board.</p>

Nuts, how about replacing the .cnf file with the random play .cnf
c4s07.cnf
That might bypass an issue with the coin mechanism or credit system
With random play a song should start shortly after powering on

Hi Matthigs
On one of your previous posts the one that shows an image of your computer screen, there is 10 audio files.
Are you sure that they are MP3 format ? as the image in the little square box does not look like that on my PC running Windows 10.
I guess different PCs may use a different image it’s just a suggestion.
